Are you compliant?
New Hazardous Waste Regulations which may affect your business
and the way waste material is collected and treated came into
force on 16th July 2005.
All Waste Matters are fully committed to ensuring your hazardous
waste is dealt with legally and ethically and have compiled the
following guide of key changes to help steer you through the
minefield of gaining Environmental compliance.
- Sites producing hazardous waste will have to register their
premises annually with the Environment Agency. For a small admin
fee All Waste Matters can not only register, but renew your Premises
Code for you.
- After 16th of July it will be an offence to make a hazardous
waste collection from a site not registered or considered exempt
by the Environment Agency. Exemptions can include sites producing
less than 500kg/litres of hazardous waste per annum.
- Fines of £20,000 can be enforced in some cases
of non compliance.

|
- Companies with multiple sites producing Hazardous Waste must
have all sites registered.
- It is illegal to mix different types of hazardous waste materials
or mix with non-hazardous wastes. In addition wastes should be
stored separately. All Waste Matters can supply different containers
to suit your requirements and have no minimum hazardous waste
collection fee, eliminating the need for storage of waste where
space is an issue.
- The regulations place a statutory duty on the Environment
Agency to inspect sites where hazardous waste is produced. All
Waste Matters can arrange a free Environmental Compliance check
by one of our fully trained Environmental consultants to ensure
all hazardous wastes are being stored and disposed of correctly.
- A wider range of wastes are included e.g. fluorescent tubes,
computer monitors, some batteries, ink tins. If you are unsure
as to whether your waste is now included please fill out one
of our contact forms and one of our team will get right back
to you.
